Playing Information
There are a number of opportunities to play AFL with Blue Mountains AFL. Whether 4 or 70, first timer or a 200 gamer we have something for someone at any age, ability, and fitness. We can provide you with a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
Auskick 4yo+
“Auskick” is specially designed to teach kids skills and understanding of AFL in a non-contact environment to instil confidence and maximise fun. Players will undertake skills, fitness and modified games with the priority being with their hands in the ball as often as possible.
Auskick is Sunday mornings (approx. 8.30am – 10am) at Tom Hunter Park, Faulconbridge, there is no training mid-week. During the season there are a couple of ‘Auskick gala days’ where we meet up with other Auskick Clinics. There is usually the chance for kids to play in a game at halftime of an GWS Giants AFL match.
Registration cost for the season is $125 and NSW Active Kids voucher can be used.
Auskick is provided by qualified Auskick coordinators who will support parents to be involved in sessions.
Junior Footy (u9s-u18s)
There are dedicated ‘Youth Girls’ competitions for Under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 age groups and we are aiming to field teams in as many of these as possible or create opportunities for girls to be involved.
The modified rules are similar for both boys and girls
Under 9s and 10s
Played under modified rules and field size with reduced contact and no scoreboard. Teams play against other local clubs with home and away scheduled games. The focus is on continuing to learn the rules, skills and game sense of AFL with players rotating through each ‘zones’ of the field to understand all aspects of the game.
Registration is $150 for the season.
Under 11s and 12s
Competition footy starts with modified rules and field sizes. Zones are removed, limited tackling is introduced with scoreboards and finals. There is training one to two nights during the week and games are on Sundays.
Under 13s and above
Full size fields, full rules and competition continues, field size increases and training usually moves to two nights a week.
Under 13s and above become known as the Mountain Lions where we join with players from Emu Plains / Glenmore Park to field teams at level suitable for all players.
Registration for Under 11 and above is $150.
